'If I ruled the world’ is a song written and performed by Nas. In the lyrics there are many messages about different life struggles from politics, racism and everyday life. This song has a major part in the success of rap and hip hop and the lyrics tell the story of Nas. If he was to rule the world he explains what he would do to change things.

I think this song is very relatable and relevant to many people. The lyrics of the song are focused on people's everyday struggles and events that are taking place in society. For example the first line of the song says “Imagine smoking weed in the streets without cops harassing”, which instantly puts an idea of one the many problems going on in society. Even though these lyrics were written back in 1996, arrests for position or use of the drug are still a major headline in society. Also "Black latino and anglo and saxon. I'd open every cell in Attica and send em to Africa." To me this line symbolises the racism and poverty that is happening around Nas. It’s important to note that this song was written with the intent of talking about black issues in society. He writes this song to make people more aware of what is actually going on and what most people do not get to hear about and further explains stories of these situations through the power of music. "Black latino and anglo saxon” means that no matter what race someone is, if they’re living in poverty Nas wishes to be able to give everyone a life of peace. This songs tackles issues head on and I think things like this need to be noticed more so it can become easier for people to talk about it.

I think the theme of acceptance and equal rights is relevant in our society. From the lyrics of the song it holds many statements of these aspects in our society. For example “If I ruled the world and everything in it, sky's the limit I push a Q-45 Infinit It wouldn't be no such thing as jealousies or B Felonies”. A q-45 is a luxury car, and Nas meant in order to fit in he would get this car and fit into the upper class of society. He then wouldn't get looked at funny or get called out because he is doing as everyone else is to stay relevant. From my point of view I see people losing who they really are as a person to become someone's they aren't, to be accepted by others because you're not "strange” or "the odd one out". By “B- felonies” Nas is inflicting the fact that if he ruled the world he would make people live in harmony. B-felonies are the second most serious form of felony - manslaughter, aggravated sexual assaults, first degree reckless homicide, possession of heroin and cocaine. I think this song shows how difficult life can be for some people and others don't even realise it. Constantly people aren't being treated equally for who they are because society doesn't accept them. Problems like the ones talked about in this song are pushed to the side and not talked about because it is uncomfortable for people to face the truth. Because of this song people are forced to listen to it and is become more aware of.  People will realise life is supposed to be lived in peace and harmony, but it'll be too late.

“If i ruled the world I'd free all my sons”. The actions Nas would take on the racism struggle that was going on in his society and many of these problems still exist. To conclude this, I think that this song gives an insight to a lot struggles in society. It is a strong message that makes everyone aware of what other people go through every day.

Health and safety is important So we can stay safe in the cooking environment, we won't be risk if we can keep our standards when cooking and cleaning at a high level
An example is by just simply washing our hands in hot and soapy water before handling our food by taking this action we don't have the risk of spreading germs and bugs that were on our hands, health and safety is very important in the cooking room if we us these guidelines and rules set we can keep everyone safe and out of harms reach

Guidelines we took to insure our food was safe

  1. We all washed our hands
  2. We made sure all of our cooking equipment was clean
  3. We made sure we used the color chopping boards for the right food categories
  4. We checked the inside temp of our chicken to make sure it was correctly cooked
We were protecting our food from salmonella, We took the action of making sure the inside temp of our chicken was high enough so no bacteria would be in our chicken and we wouldn't get sick, We knew we were safe because at that high of a temperature the bacteria is fully dead
